My current living situation.

My country Colombia lies within the borders of the South American continent, bathed into the seas near the coasts, and lying on top of mountains in the southern regions. The climate here can go from the hottest days to the coldest nights, and a lot of rain in between that. The coldness of some of the cities can be balanced by the warmth of its people, their welcoming attitudes and openness. So many accents are represented, like the different colors of skin and religious beliefs, our country holds such an uniqueness and diversity unlike any other country. The food here brings comforts in so many ways, like the typical lunch of arroz blanco, tajada and any type of protein, or the variety of soups that make us remember our childhood sick days. There are many emblematic places to remember the escence of our country, like  the river of five colors, the Sierra Nevada in Santa Marta, or the national park Tayrona. In Colombia, thousands of species live and thrive in our beautiful forests or national parks. The politics of Colombia have always been disputed, but one thing always remains, the desire of the Colombian to find love and happiness in liberty.
Barranquilla is one of the several coastal cities in Colombia, and perhaps the most populated one. Barranquilla is famous for its warm, tropical air, the majestic moon that shines in the sky as if it were shining just for us, and the crazy nature of its people, and perhaps you could say that the essence of the city belongs to no other than the Barranquilleros. Filled with joy and Juniorista pride, we decorate our city with so many beautiful characteristics. The yearly celebration of the Carnaval is the event everyone expects impatiently, and when it arrives, the city fills with dancing, singing, happiness and celebration of life. Monocucos, Toritos, Marimondas and many other iconic Carnaval characters can be seen in thousand all through the city in the months of February or March, and all of our hearts belong to the Queen of the Carnaval. When the Carnaval ends, the Catholic majority in the city gets ready for Easter. And while we wait on the Carnaval to come again, we eat deditos, empanadas, chuzos, motes de queso, and many more dishes. We party with the songs of our Barranquilla-born queen Shakira, and scream swear words at the infamous soccer matches.
My neighborhood isn't as boring as I once though it was. There are about 6 houses in my block, and each of them is occupied by very different people. In of the houses next to us lives an elderly couple and their adult son, with a very tiny dog named Willy, who enjoys peeing in people, for example, my sister. The other house by ours is only habited by a security guard and the occasional owner, but most of the time its just the guard. The house in front of us, well thats my favorite. Fabrizio, my neighbor has a brownie business who just recently opened a shop in their garage, and my sweet tooth couldn't be happier. They also have a very old dog called Yankee, who also enjoys peeing very much. Next to them there are two identical houses, which were built in very recently. In both of them they reside a lot of kids, who come out to play outside when the light goes out, which is almost once a month. They also have a dog named Ricky, who happens to be my dog Emma's boyfriend. A few houses away from mine lives my school mate Diego. I guess im the weird neighbor.
